about red bird (aka amanda dugay forrester):

Boston-based designer who focuses on refashioning vintage findings into wearable art.  Kooky gal from coastal Maine. Whimsical princess meets street meets punk, with some Old Hollywood glam thrown in for good measure. I run a small online boutique of re-invented vintage items and write a fashion blog called swoon. I also work for a few websites and local Boston store blogs as a contributing photographer and fashion blogger. In addition, I work as Event Coordinator, assistant fashion stylist, contributing content writer, and editor for Spirited Magazine.  I do personal shopping, style consulting, & fashion photography. I spend my free time styling, thrifting, re-fashioning vintage apparel & accessories, curating vintage collections, writing, eating asian food, cooking, riding my bikes, & hanging out with my cats. I also do event promotion and pr for various arts & culture events in Boston, so if you need help with a project, shoot, or event, email me. Please check out the red bird vintage store, 'amanda amanda' store, my blog, and my published work; you can find links to all these things above.

about red bird vintage:

I love vintage-- what's old & quirky & in need of love & repair. I love reinventing vintage pieces-- especially taking an old hat or dress & reworking & embellishing it until it's completely one of a kind (while still maintaining its' vintage aesthetic). Browse the designs I've already created; if an item has sold, I can more than likely make you something similar. Or if you prefer, let me make you a custom original, which is my favorite thing to do. Stay tuned as I'm adding more items regularly.  I have also been working with Amanda Maciel Antunes under the working name 'Amanda Amanda' fashion feathered headpieces and 'featherbangs.'  See store links above.

My motto for life: Dress up. Stand out.  Laugh constantly. Oh, and please do wear a fabulous hat.
